BNE is an anonymous graffiti writer known for his mysterious and prolific stickers that read "BNE" or "BNE was here". He has left an indelible mark in all continents throughout the world, including all over the United States, Canada, Asia, Australia, Europe, and South America. In 2006, the San Francisco Police Department called to attention BNE's stickers appearing on public property across the city. Mayor Gavin Newsom offered a reward for information leading to BNE's arrest. Years later, the chairman of the New York City Council called him "an unrepentant criminal who has cost honest taxpayers a lot of money". In 2011, BNE launched the BNE Water Foundation, starting several fundraising campaigns which featured collabs with major artists like Shepard Fairey and Space Invader. He subsequently disappeared after the donations were received. He has not made any public statements since.
