Martha Cooper is a documentary photographer well known worldwide for capturing the magic of NYC graffiti in the 1980s. Her photos of young artists painting at night, the top to bottom full car productions, and their bold pieces blazing through the burned out Bronx landscapes at daybreak, which later helped launch a global art movement that still continues today. She had the skills, but more importantly she had the curiosity and reporter’s instinct along with the guts to push through a freshly cut hole in a rusty fence.
